At Inside Out Health Solutions my patients are always asking for help in creating a great first aid kit. I have a few key homeopathic products that are always stocked in my personal medicine cabinet. By being prepared and having these things on hand you can make healthy decisions for healing yourself and your family!
Homeopathic remedies are safe to use and best of all they really work. Simply melt three to five pellets of the homeopathic remedy under your tongue. Homeopathic remedies are best taken away from strong tastes such as mint, coffee or garlic. This means if you have just eaten rinse your mouth out with water before taking your homeopathic. A few of my favourite remedies are listed below.

Have you ever wondered why every item in the produce aisle doesn’t carry the “Health Check”? Or perhaps how buying a plastic bottle of water might help women with breast cancer (when the bottle itself is contributing to the high breast cancer rates), or perhaps why women on a diet think that a calorie free, chemical soda might help them lose weight?
Did you know the “Health Check” is absolutely meaningless? Companies pay the Heart and Stroke Foundation to use it on their products, and pay various other groups to use various other claims.

Oh what fun summer has been so far! We’re definitely well into it and I’m sure many of you have been to your fair share of backyard parties. There are so many things to love about patio season – fresh salads, grilled veggies, in-season fruit, the fact that it is bright enough to actually see your friends well into the night!
For many, BBQs are also accompanied by a few (or a few too many) drinks. I’m talking alcohol here. I’ve seen recycling bins filled to the brim with nothing but beer bottles. I will never understand the appeal of that beverage. To me it tastes like cat pee mixed with perrier and maybe a squeeze of turpentine. I know you know what I mean! Other types of alcohol just taste like pure yuckiness to me and I suppose that’s why they are often mixed with delicious juices to make cocktails. So why do you need the icky tasting stuff in there if the juice is so delicious tasting by itself? It’s not like tequila is doing anything for your health that it’s actually worth the nasty taste and corosive heart-on-fire feeling you get from downing it.

Is it nearly impossible to find a safe rated sunscreen? It sure is. This leads me to believe it’s best to avoid using it whenever possible and at the same time avoid being out in the sun at its highest as much as possible.

I always jokingly said I’d have to spread my legs for money to pay my way through medical school. I just never guessed it would actually come true!
Now entering my second year of naturopathic medicine, I work as a medical model helping the upper-year students learn how to perform a safe and effective gynecological exam, which is a Controlled Act only performed by Medical & Naturopathic Doctors in Ontario.

Carob is a funny thing. I find that people either love it or hate it. I personally love it and find myself defending the poor thing a lot. Meghan is not such a fan of it and whenever I mention the stuff she gives me an “ew” look. I was introduced to carob really early on since my grandmother used to bake with it. Since chocolate kept her up at night, she used carob in its place in a lot of cakes and cookies. I don’t think carob tastes like chocolate, but it is sweet and brown so I suppose it can stand in as chocolate when necessary. I prefer to think of carob as its own unique flavour. I can’t really describe it -malty, molasses, sweet with a little bitterness at the same time. Something along those lines. I do appreciate that it is naturally sweet on its own and is so versatile. It can be added to smoothies, baked goods, and even savoury dishes to balance out the flavour and add a certain complexity.

What fun I had last Friday after Josh and I did our live web chat. We went adventuring around the west end of Toronto and most certainly made time to stop and smell the flowers- the cherry blossoms in this case, that were in full magical serene bloom over in high park. Beeee-youtiful.
So with the first official long weekend of ‘summer’, or at least the weekend that is supposed to resemble the kick-off of summer, go on and have some fun around town or get yourself out of town. If you’re like me, you may be feeling like every season seems to be a ‘busy time of year’, let’s do our best to make this coming season a time of being busy doing what we love most, which might just be smelling the flowers, playing outside, and having fun around town.

There are lots of easy, inexpensive ways to make your love life more ecosexy. Here are our top five to get you started.
Use organic, all-natural, glycerine and paraben-free lube.
Lube makes sexy time more fun by reducing friction and increasing pleasure. Unfortunately, most pharmacy brand lubes contain ingredients that aren’t very vagina-friendly. Glycerine is a sugar, and there’s some evidence that the natural yeast in a woman’s body feeds off that sugar and multiplies, thus leading to an increase in yeast infections. Parabens have been known to mimic estrogen and wreak all kinds of havoc on the reproductive system. Thankfully there are lots of options that are better for your body, and the earth. Check out your local health food store or specialty sex shop for brands without parabens and glycerine. Our personal favourite is Hathor, made in Canada by a woman owned company. Some other great eco options are Sliquid Organics, or Blossom Organics.

A couple of weeks ago, a good friend commented on her status about taking her evening dose of psyllium. Now, I know of many people who have a cup of coffee first thing in the morning to get things moving. I do this too sometimes, but it’s not what you think.
Are you ready to talk enemas? I do think it’s time. If you have my Green Smoothie Cleanse you have likely seen my little one pager on the importance of and how to with a regular enema. I don’t include this information because I am some insane nutritionista without a grasp on what peeps are really willing to do for their health.

Oh my sweet mommas! It has been a while since I was this excited for an event. Maybe not since my St. Lucia retreat (which sadly will be ending in 2 days). So because I knew I’d be in a funk when the fun in the sun came to an end, I had to bring in some sunshine. That sunshine is coming in the form of the Groove Master trainer herself, Ms. Brooke Yanzte.

It’s clear that hard work, passion, authenticity and commitment have been keys to Meghan’s success in building her growing business. However, every good entrepreneur needs a break and Meghan’s long term vision for the company and herself include the goal of her not having to work so hard. She developed her company to have separate components such as the Love in the Kitchen Academy and the Nourish Your Soul Holidays that focus on components such as education and travelling. Her long term vision includes having cooking schools and retreats around the world which don’t require her to run them and can be managed by others. This model will also allow her to bring health and nutrition information and education to more people across the globe, which is ultimately her goal.
