Are You Ready For Health?
You are! You are for sure!!!
We all know that creating a super powered community around healthy living is the surest way to:
1. Make it stick
2. Make it fun
3. Make us not feel like total and complete social outcasts.
This is why the “group” component of my group coached programs, using my eBooks as a guide to follow, is so flippin’ fun and equally important, so deliciously effective and sustainable.
I spent New Year’s Day at a smoothie party where we feasted on collard wraps and super smoothies and elixirs. It was awesome, especially after a night known for indulgence and boozing, to share a lazy afternoon with like minded peeps. It is rather insane that it is more socially acceptable to smoke cigarettes than drink raw chocolate drinks. It is strange that we feel people need convincing to ‘eat healthy’, which seems like it should be the only way people should want to eat, or that being the ‘healthy one’ becomes the hindrance when friends and family are putting together a menu for a meal.

Everyone I know who works from a home or kitchen office, as the case my be, has their go-to places for meetings. I will often see people in my kitchen, but if it is a mess or if my kitchen assistants or I don’t have time to make a proper lunch, I do the next best thing which is hit up my off-site boardroom, better known by peeps in Toronto as Fresh. Fresh restaurant, with three locations in downtown Toronto is kitchen-away-from-kitchen boardroom. I suppose I eat there at least once, if not four times a week and I am always amazed/excited by how busy it always is.

Cooked vegetables do not make me gag, contrary to the title of this post. Though they used to. I actually used to kind of dislike all vegetables. I had a special dislike for cooked ones. Cooked carrots were the grossest thing I could conceive of eating. Oh how times have changed, for me at least.

Have you ever been to a science centre or children’s museum where you put your hand on a ball of electricity and it makes your hair stand on end?
Well I kind of like my food to do the same. I mean, not that you have to electrocute it, but that it is so supercharged that it just can’t limp out on you. We don’t tend to like things that go limp when they should stand firm… (um, ahem).

Have you been to one of my classes or workshops yet? If not, then you wouldn’t have any idea how horrible I am at following the directions on a recipe, especially when it comes to my own.
I really have a hard time following rules, guidelines, instructions, and directions. I prefer to follow the ones I make up in my own mind. This habit sometimes finds me lost, sometimes finds me dressed inappropriately, but more often than not, results in unexpected adventure.

This is the fourth time I have seen David Wolfe speak in the last year. And you know what? He has yet to say the same thing twice, continues to inspire a greater level of health and still has the best sound bites of any speaker ever.

Was I the last to know that edamame grow locally? I don’t ever remember seeing them at markets before and suddenly I see edamame and okra everywhere. Living alone, I sometimes have really odd meals and I can tell you with only a touch of shame and sprinkle of embarrassment I ate a massive plate of edamame for dinner.

Summer life is in full swing and sometimes that can be none-too-much fun for those of us who prefer to avoid meat off a grill. Also not too fun for those of us who also prefer to avoid weird mystery ‘meat’ veggie burgers. Now… how about a veggie burger made with actual vegetables? There’s something new and fun!

It is rare that I leave the city, unless it is to go up to my cottage, fly across the country or to another country. On a recent and rare adventure, I got in my car to visit a land far, far away (commonly known as the suburbs). Raspberries were calling my name. “Meghan! Come pick me!” They yelled.

Did that heading draw you in? Come on now, be honest? I am not going to even begin to understand our collective desire to be a heap of skin and bones. As I’ve said many a time, I would so much rather be chubby and just keep eating great food, and living the way I live.
