I offer loads of info about loads of foods- some everyday foods like squash and raspberries and some weirder foods like cocoa butter and aloe. I’m an equal opportunity food researcher.
Today- the food falls into the weird category- and is also fitting after all the excitement yesterday over the registration rush on our Fab Uplift Detox Program.
There is something powerful, magical and inherently healing about the ocean. There is no place I would rather be than with my toes in the ocean. There is also something incredibly powerful about the ocean. Our planet depends on the health of our water for survival.
Wait a second- don’t we, as humans also rely on the power of our water for survival? Yes, my fair sister, Yes! I say.

I have a new hobby and it’s really fun: Gardening! I’ve always planted a few things in my garden every Spring, but this year I’ve gotten really into it. And want to know a secret…I’m really terrible at it! Things have died, wilted, been chewed up by rabbits, and are growing into one another. At least I can plant flowers that survive….that counts for something right? My garden is what Meghan would call a ‘gong show’ but I’m really proud of it. I planted it myself, played in the dirt, and pretty soon I’ll have a few local organic veggies of my own.

This is how I start my day. For real lovers. Even with all the healthy living I was doing down in St. Lucia and with the amount that I travel, it’s my green juice, not my bed, that I am excited to come home to.
What’s the different between a juice and a smoothie? Well, a juice has all the pulp removed. This is a great thing when, what you’re juicing are low glycemic greens- not such a good thing if you are juicing just fruits. Green juice is like a bath for your insides. First thing in the morning, I slurp down about a litre of pure power!

It couldn’t be a week in the tropics without my delving in to one of my simultaneously least and most favourite superfood. I hate it because it’s bitter, it’s slimy, it stains things purple and it smells like arm pit. But I love it because of the amazingly ability that bitterness and slimyness has on turning the engines on high in the digestive tract.

As we move into Green Smoothie mode, we’re probably beginning to realize that when on the cleanse, there isn’t much difference between what we eat for breakfast compared to what we eat for dinner. Actually, in many cultures, there is no difference. Whoever decided that a bagel and orange juice was breakfast, well, he didn’t do us any favours.

Mango really does go with everything and to prove it, I mixed it in with Kelp Noodles. Seems you kids can’t get enough of these weird noodley things. Since I received healthy food confirmation through my awesome sluethy readers, I feel okay to continue working my way through the half-a-dozen packets I bought in a [...]

Since I couldn’t locate the photos I have of Vanessa sleeping naked, I had to use the adorable one of her sitting in her empty fridge. Last Saturday, as part of Green Week, I reviewed the wonderfully hilarious memoir Sleeping Naked Is Green, by world renowned (she really is)green author and naked sleeper Vanessa Farquharson. [...]

Day 3 of the Green Smoothie Cleanse and then we are home free. No problem right? During a cleanse, I always feel like everything in my life moves just a little bit slower- or maybe that I move a little slower. I mean this in the best possible way. I chill out a bit, focus [...]

Day 6 of Green Week and today all my Green Smoothie Cleansers are going totally veg. Raw and cooked and all plant based goodness. I thought it a good idea for me to share one of my most favourite green snacks. That’s right. Brussels sprouts. More accurately in fave snack form that would be Brussels [...]

I don’t know about you, but in the last three days, what I found the toughest on the Green Smoothie Cleanse was putting all these fresh, organic veggies into the blender without being able to crunch their goodness. My first meal post cleanse is a salad. I am transitioning out, as I went in which [...]
