I am back from St. Lucia with no time to rest. The fun of the photoshoot has come and gone and now it is time to make nice with my computer, highlighters and team over here that will be sailing this biz ship while I hide away. My entire edited manuscript was sitting on my desk when I returned to work yesterday. In case you were wondering what a 73,000 word manuscript looks like.. well here you go.

Oh me oh my! I am back from the most magical 17 days playing till I couldn’t play no more on the shores (and in the hills and volcanoes) of Hawaii. I am bursting at the seems with all the goodies I want to share with you, all the gems of info I learned, all the places I experienced… But that will have to wait. We have a year to close out and a new one to ring in. First- watch the video!

Oh the joy. The fun. The writing I will be doing with a whole weekend free. Sort of. In my imagination, I booked this weekend off so that, I would have it free and easy to travel the globe, leading up to my 32nd birthday coming on Tuesday (yep, the 25th). I was going to go to New York, or LA, or Fiji (in my dreams anyway)… And then decided that instead I would check in with reality because this mamasita has a book to write. And write like the wind I will.

Another great week over here in the nutrition front. We ran five classes in eight days which made this kitchen a mad, mad house.

Magic seems to happen around here quite often. It’s a sweet thing. I truly believe, perhaps more than ever, that you if you give, give, give without expectation, you will get, get, get in more abundance than you can believe.

As the creed says, we must “Offer the planet what you want the planet to offer you in return”. The creed I developed for my life and my work is how I strive everyday to live. In the coming weeks, we will be breaking down that creed step-by-step, almost as a guide, so I might explain what it means to me and you might decide what the words mean to and for you.

This is the part of my demo at the Hot and Spicy Food Festival last week where I held a jar of fresh sesame milk and sang love songs to My Nut Sack after mixing up the most amazing Hot and Spicy Brownies you’ve ever tasted.

Don’t believe that I was singing? Really? Well, then you should have been there because then you would know for sure. Or, you can come by The Toronto Vegetarian Food Festival this weekend and see me live and singing at my cooking demo on Saturday at 4:00pm.

It is time to meet our great and bigger team. We’re growing over here and with this amazing group of people, so far we seem to be side-stepping the pains that can often come with it. You all know (and I’m sure) love Ms. Jen by now, with all her amazing info and her generously skilled hand at keeping me afloat when I take on enough to drown us both.

My love sweet lover sometimes refer to my rock star assistant Jen as my little fish (also known as Flipper).

What a great week it has been. It started out on Monday when I presented over at The University Of Toronto to their 3rd year Medical Students. They were amazingly receptive, asked great questions and overall- we had loads of fun! I hope they invite me back soon.

Now, moving along. Have been to any of my cooking demos or workshops yet? If you have, you probably saw me giggling like a 14 year old boy about milking the nuts and squeezing the nut sack. It was a natural step for me to get my own custom nut sacks made, which we have appropriately called “My Nut Sack”

I think every cook has those few items they just can’t live without. The tools they use over and over again until they’re worn out and practically falling apart. At least I know I do. I’ve gone through three Williams Sonoma high-heat silicone spatulas in the last two years, the last of which ended up burned, chipped, scarred and eventually, in two pieces. All out of love, of course. And my Global 8” Chef’s knife? It’s like an extension of my arm.

Here are the top ten kitchen tools I cannot live without:

Oh my love sweet lovers! This is exciting. We are coming up on our wildest season of classes yet. So exciting. We have more goods than ever in our shop (soon to be available online), plus you can now come for private shopping experiences with some of our staff nutritionistas. Jen has been busy ordering, stocking and pricing all the goods. That closet above, was once home to my wardrobe- and is now our micro-warehouse.

I love fall time. It means another weekend of Loving at the Veg Fair, another Apple A Day Giveaway and between now and December we’re running nearly 40 classes. That’s a whole lot of love going down in the kitchen.

I have a kitchen table! Like my own. In my own home. It’s nice I tell you, it’s nice. After three years of working where I live and living where I work, I have my own little apartment right nearby.

That kitchen table, by the way, was the very same table I had in my very first apartment twelve years ago. It has been in my parents garage since 2003 and we cleaned it up and made it good as new. Want to know the best part about taking this table and now using it again? I don’t have to hear my mom bla, bla, bla at me about storing it in their garage anymore.

Sometimes I get into grooves in my life when I know the decisions are simply making themselves, achievements seem almost effortless, pro/con lists are irrelevant and, well, it all just seems right.

The last little while has felt like that for me as both my retreat and my first offering of the Culinary Nutrition Program each filled in under a week, classes filled to the brim to the end of the season and spilled over into the fall and so much more.

So Troop Beverly Hills was pretty much the best movie ever right? About the Girl Guides in Beverly Hills who get all creative with their fundraising efforts. Remember this?
Please read through this as there is a really exciting announcement coming!

Raise your hand if you’ve given some moolah out to someone you know and love who is walking, biking, running, or selling stuff for a cause. It’s hard to say no, most of the time.

What do Italy, Mozambique, Cuba, Fiji, Australia, Jordan, Hong Kong, St. Lucia, Senegal, France, Jamaica, Swaziland, Portugal, Israel and Belize have in common? Well, these are among the many countries I have had the absolute privilege and honour of visiting and dining in. The greatest things I love about travelling is falling in love… sometimes with places, sometimes with men, and most often with food!
