Last week- this whole book thing became very, very, VERY real to me. We shot my book! Yes we did. I had a whole crew in the kitchen with me. My amazing kitchen fairies, my editor and the designer from my publisher McClelland and Stewart, my photographer Catherine Farquharson and her assistant Nicki, Amy Lam, my make-up artist, and Ashley Denton, the food stylist. Wowza did we zip through loads of goodness. It was so much fun. Day 1 of the shoot was all about me in action- playing in the kitchen. Day 2 and 3 we shot all the amazing food shots. On Sunday, I invited some ladies over for a fantastic brunch and we rounded out the four day shoot with a visit to my home to catch my man and I just hangin’. The book is all written. Handed in my last chapters before I left for Hawaii. Now I just have to edit. I can’t believe I have to wait a whole 11 months before I get to show off the prize of all these efforts. Wanna to me a favour and start getting excited right along with me? Maybe these pictures from the first couple days of the shoot might help.
(And before you ask- all clothes from my fave store ever- Anthropologie)

Oh the joy. The fun. The writing I will be doing with a whole weekend free. Sort of. In my imagination, I booked this weekend off so that, I would have it free and easy to travel the globe, leading up to my 32nd birthday coming on Tuesday (yep, the 25th). I was going to go to New York, or LA, or Fiji (in my dreams anyway)… And then decided that instead I would check in with reality because this mamasita has a book to write. And write like the wind I will.
Another great week over here in the nutrition front. We ran five classes in eight days which made this kitchen a mad, mad house.

Well didn’t we have just the most fun ever at last weekend’s Vegetarian Food Festival? Didn’t we? How can you not have fun when there are grown men running around dressed as giant peas?
I was busy sharing my wares at my booth.
I was most excited about how excited everyone was over our brand new creed, irish moss, tote bags, and sleeping masks (with fabric I designed myself, I might add!)

Oh my love sweet lovers! This is exciting. We are coming up on our wildest season of classes yet. So exciting. We have more goods than ever in our shop (soon to be available online), plus you can now come for private shopping experiences with some of our staff nutritionistas. Jen has been busy ordering, stocking and pricing all the goods. That closet above, was once home to my wardrobe- and is now our micro-warehouse.
I love fall time. It means another weekend of Loving at the Veg Fair, another Apple A Day Giveaway and between now and December we’re running nearly 40 classes. That’s a whole lot of love going down in the kitchen.

Is this what weekends are like for non-biz owners? Where you get to come home at the end of the day on Friday and play all weekend long to your heart’s content? On Monday I asked what you were doing to squeeze the last bits out of summer (though I may have used the words testicles and tittles somewhere in that paragraph).
Last weekend I had the whole weekend to play. Things are about to get chaotic. VERY chaotic to say the least so the J-Man and I set out for some fun. I get oodles of requests to post my ‘daily eats’, which as I have said, is not really something I want to post about. Snooze fest I’m sure plus trying to eat what someone else eats is a bit like trying to squeeze into someone else’s panties. Slightly uncomfortable and perhaps a little icky.

I have a kitchen table! Like my own. In my own home. It’s nice I tell you, it’s nice. After three years of working where I live and living where I work, I have my own little apartment right nearby.
That kitchen table, by the way, was the very same table I had in my very first apartment twelve years ago. It has been in my parents garage since 2003 and we cleaned it up and made it good as new. Want to know the best part about taking this table and now using it again? I don’t have to hear my mom bla, bla, bla at me about storing it in their garage anymore.

What a delicious (literally!) week it has been. The man and I escaped the city last weekend to come back up to the cottage for a full week of sunshiny paradise. That’s us, by one of our little bunkies enjoying some super powered smoothie loving (recipe down below).

This has been my mantra for the week (illustrated by this sweet artist).
And it’s true too. I can feel it! Now I just wait, as impatiently as is characteristic of me, to see the goodness that will surely unfold.
Since last Tuesday, when I had the great fortune of experiencing the preciousness of life (in an auto accident where a tank-like SUV plowed my little car into oncoming traffic), I have been graced with many things. Allow me to explain.

Sometimes when I get really busy I find myself doing really strange things, and asking myself- why on earth have you chosen to take on this project and is it really that important?
This was what was going through my head when the above photo was taken of me. This was last Friday, the day before the Reboot Event (and you can get a copy of my talk here), when I was sitting at the dining table in the Love In The Kitchen Headquarters, sewing.

Did you LOVE with all your might Lisa Borden’s post yesterday? She’s the newest to be introduced member of my Superhero Posse. She it totally my secret weapon. Man I love that woman. Speaking of women I love, Jen also totally rocked out on Chlorella. Talk about Love In The Time Of Chlorella. That stuff is powerful and I have been taking it since we were sent all those amazing samples from Sun Chlorella. I really can tell a difference.

How I love California. I have spent such special time there in the last four and a half years. I have been down thrice in the last seven months alone! This last time, however, was extra special as my love sweet love was there with me. Got to show him all my favourite spots, and experience the place that helped me heal, for himself.

Greetings lovers. What a splendid week we’ve been having here in California. I am busting at the seems to tell you all about it, but at times like these, it is best to just hang out here and be present for it all, and share it with you next week when I am back.

In amongst teaching a couple classes this week and launching a cleansed and refreshed new shop on my website, I also packed up and skipped town. I’ve been home for just over five weeks, it was time!
That’s right. I ran away! Late last night my main squeeze and I caught a flight to the California Coast, where my heart does lie. I am here for a sweet little visit. This weekend, we will be soaking up some superfood powered wisdom with all our friends at The Longevity Now Conference. This is like going to Disney Land for us nutritionists and I am sure I will have loads to share when I get back.

Oh lovers. That pic above starts our Friday faves off right as it is my fave pic of the week. This past Sunday marked a milestone day over here at The Love In The Kitchen Academy. Why? Because for the first time ever, I had the lovely luxury of being a guest at a class in my very own school!
Josh Gitalis, healer of all the world, was my first ever guest instructor and he instructed the goji berries out of his Healing Elixirs and Herbal Medicine workshop. That workshop sold out mighty quick and we even had 4 people on a waiting list should someone cancel! We have added a new date for April 16th- so best to get yourself signed up if you are interested.
Now what is glowing in that yellow elixir in the photo? Well my loves, that secret is held between Josh, myself, Jen, one of our fabulous interns, Tara, and the 12 lucky peeps who attended. Mwahahaha!

Happy Friday everyone! What a week I had… As I do my best to keep warm I can’t help but spend a little time everyday looking through the heated goodness from the month of retreating I did in St. Lucia. I know everyone loves peeping at pics (isn’t that what Facebook is all about!?)
This week, I wanted to jazz up your Friday by sharing some of the highlights from Nourish Your Soul II. If you missed the highlights from Nourish Your Soul I, you can check them here!
