And now for way three I wanted to combine a few of my favourite snack foods. I love Nori, I love a warm cup of miso soup. I think anything with sesame seeds tastes great and tamari can give almost anything a little flair. Oh, and I love kale chips.
That is how I came up with Way Three of my Kale Chips Adventure. I like to call these Macro-Japan Kale Chips. Sea veggies, miso, sesame oil, tamari, sesame seeds- if those are macrobiotic friendly and traditional Japanese foods than… Than nothing, because they are and either way- I make up the rules here.

I have been totally obsessed with kale chips. It started up again after that event I went to a few weeks back and sampled some of the best Kale chips of my life. I have since been trying all kinds of different, delicious toppings and every single one has been a delicious hit. I have realized that you can pretty much put any thing on these awesome, dry them out and voila- you have the perfect crunchy delicious and oh so healthy substitute for chips.
So consider this Way Two of Kale Chips 5 Ways. You can find Way One here and the rest will be following over the coming weeks. To tantalize your taste buds- we’ve got an Asian Macrobiotic Sesame chip, A Sour Cream and Onion (with neither sour cream, nor onion) and a Spicey Nacho Cheese (again- no nachos or cheese). And wow are they all fantastic and if you are free this Sunday, you can sample one of the many awesome varieties I have been coming up.

Yes, flaxseeds made the cut to fall into the Everyday Superfoods category in the brand shiny new tutorial coming out tomorrow. Why did they make the cut? Because they are awesome-town worthy.
Not only are flaxseeds incredibly rich in omega 3 essential fatty acids, the oil has a phytoestrogen effect that can help us balance out the old cycle, they are very rich in fibre, plus they have that boogery mucilage component to them. As with okra and aloe, that slime factor is incredibly nourishing to the cells that line our intestinal tract. They feed these cells and the better nourished these cells are, the better they are able to absorb the nutrients from our food, thus the better nourished we are as a whole. The mucilage in flaxseeds is also delightfully healing to any gut irritation or inflammation. It therefore makes for a very gentle fibre as the combo of the soluble and insoluble fibre plus the snot-like mucilage helps it all slip right on out efficiently and regularly.

Now I bring you one of my newest and favourite ‘why-didn’t-I-think-of-that?’ recipes: Coconut chips. I can tell you right now why I didn’t think of this. It’s because coconuts don’t grow on trees where I come from and so we don’t use this super-powered food as filler in everything as they do down in the [...]

Nothing says apple quite like autumn. Wait! Did I get that backwards. Nope. No I sure didn’t. It’s true. In Canada, autumn and apples go hand-in-hand. Hand-in hand like ginger and hazelnuts, like sesame seeds and pomegranates, like flaxseed and blueberries, like cranberries and almonds, like pumpkin seeds and raisins and like apples and oats. [...]

Probiotics are the good guys; the good bacteria we need in our gut that help to keep us healthy. They support healthy digestion and healthy immunity. They live in the intestines and all too often are outta wack. Use of antibiotics, and diets high in processed sugary foods and low fibre are the ultimate hot [...]

I’ll admit that I find the food blogs where people post photos of everything they eat oddly fascinating. I would love to do that but I just never remember until after I am done eating. This lunch, however, looked so pretty that I took a photo and am now sharing it with you. My lunches [...]

I often invite people to snoop into my cupboard. During my cooking classes, people like to peek in but my friends do too. The most common question is, “Where are your chips and crackers, your snack food?” And the short answer is always the same, “I haven’t made them yet”. We know that I have [...]

This post could have been called Muffins for Melanie and Massages for Meghan, but in keeping with my theme that was started by Cookies for Catherine, I kept it short. Melanie Leeder rocks my world. Actually… no. What she really does is calms it way down. I am forever showing off the awesomely cool ladies [...]
