adie Barr, a recent college graduate decided to ask a question that, for some reason, had yet to be explored: how does our metabolism respond to processed foods as compared to whole foods. The discovery, though not totally surprising, was dramatic. He research shows, without a doubt, that eating whole foods encourages thermogenesis, meaning an in increased metabolic rate, as compared to processed foods. Huh? What I mean is that processed foods are not just rich in empty calories, but they are rich in empty calories that encourage our metabolism to slow down and thus are contributing to weight gain and associated diseases.

Yes. Today is the day we celebrate this great green earth. Earth day seems as random to me as mother’s day, father’s day, family day and valentine’s day. Do we really need a reminder to appreciate our parents, the sweet purity of love, family and the planet on which we live? Seems so.
Given that it is Earth Day, I wanted to show you some sweet appreciation I had for this fair season we call Spring when an entire grove of Cherry Blossom trees over in High Park are in bloom. Oh this was delicious sight after the long pink flower-free winter!
