I am pretty sure there is nothing easier than pulling dinner out of the freezer, popping it in the oven, and having freshness come out. For this reason, I am all over the easy peezy patty shaped food. I love the vegetable veggie burgers, the falafel and even this Indian spiced patty-liciousness.
Often veggie burgers are [...]

Okay kiddles, this is my question for you.
What does this soup that eats like a meal
these Tempeh Balls (or testicles as I like to call’em) and Grandma Meghan’s Secret Tomato Sauce
this Spicy Dal
these Vegetable Veggie Burgers
and these drool worthy chocolate balls all have in common?Well, I suppose there are many answers to the question of [...]

I am clearly all over the slimy foods this week- not that I am judging them. I like to take things all the way and the okra of yesterday just wasn’t slimy enough and so today I bring you aloe: the queen be of slime.
I have fond (read: not fond at all) childhood memories of my brother and father chasing me with stinky, slimy pulpy aloe leaves. My dad has been an avid user of aloe as he claims it keeps the tan on longer. I claim that aloe smells like arm-pit and I might look prettier with a tan but I smell prettier without aloe all over my me. Needless to say, we all know of aloe as the go-to remedy for sunburns. Did you know, however, that pure, straight from the plant aloe is also an incredible super food with amazing medicinal and healing properties? You couldn’t have! Well… I didn’t.
Like many super foods, aloe runs the list of anti properties- anti viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. I heart it to bits as this weird gelly-like substance is essentially an energy tonic unto itself-

As I prepare for another deliciously delightful 5-Days Vegan that I hope you’ll join me for on February 21st, I have also been venturing into the land of new vegetables. I suppose that’s what travelling does to someone who is a nutrition nerdress like me (though I say that without judgment). Monday we talked eggplant, today, I am kicking it slimy style with okra.
This is okara:
Okra is a green vegetable that is mildly fuzzy on the outside and majorly slimy on the inside. As revolting as that unjust description may sound, don’t judge a vegetable by its furry/slimyness and instead trust that 1) it IS delicious and 2) that slimyness is a little health bonus.
Am I ever excited to share these little tidbits with you:
* The superior-powered stylings of fiber found in okra helps stabilize blood sugar by slowing the rate at which it is absorbed.
* Okra’s mucilage (the slimy part) binds with cholesterol and bile acid carrying toxins that get dumped by our hard working liver and gets that shyte out.

My grandpa, Gene Telpner, was a journalist. A world famous one at that. My grandma Fritzi was diligent in keeping scrapbooks of all his writings and adventures that included photos of him next to the likes of Marylin Monroe, Alfred Hitchcock and the delightful couple of Kermit The Frog and Miss Piggy (you know as [...]

By request (and so many emails) I have updated my recipe index. I will do my best to keep this updated as regularly as possible (at least more often than twice a year), but really, I just like you to get good and familiar with the old guys before you give the newbies a try.
The [...]

We go through a lot of transitions in our lives as we move towards a healthier way of living. Just this morning, as Josh and I were sipping on our raw cacao, home-made coconut milk and sea moss smoothies we both thought how amazing it is that we were so excited about a sea moss smoothie (recipe coming soon!). We have each made these transitions over the course of a few years, and it becomes easy to forget how far we have come, or where our clients might be right now, versus where we would like to get them to. A few years ago, I definitely wouldn’t have been salivating over a wine glass filled with blended green goodness.
Living in the world that I have created, I often forget what is going on outside of this little nutrition bubble.

To describe something as total perfection is a tricky game, especially for a perfectionist. That being said, The first run of my Nourish Your Soul Retreat at Balenbouche Estate in St. Lucia exceeded my wildest dreams. It was more perfect than I ever could have imagined. With the help of the ladies of Balenbouche, Verena, Uta and Anitanja, and Trish of Tropical Escapes we made this dream a reality and that is f-ing amazing! Together we created exactly what I had envisioned and then some. The ladies who joined this trip were laid back, appreciative of everything, amazingly positive, open-minded, adventurous and vibrant. I guess that is what healthy living’ll do.
