There is plenty fun to be had making love in the kitchen! We still have limited space in our upcoming classes – including the ridiculously popular Meal Prep Made Easy on March 12th and Eating for Awesome Energy on March 19th!
You know we are aaaaall about the yoga lovin’ here at the Love in the Kitchen headquarters. Seemed only fitting, along with our pals at Energy Expressions, that we’d be  giving away these SWEET yoga tunic pants, which I have been loving a long time. I’ll be honest though- I cut mine off to crops as that made them much more bicycle friendly for me.
The best bit about these skants (get it- skirt/pants), is that it’s like the very best of both worlds – pants and skirts, together in this beautiful marriage known as the tunic yoga pant. They keep our booty covered (think yoga wedgie), offer a little extra warmth for the kidneys and you never have to worry about splitting the seams in a downward dog.
They are especially great in my fave yoga poses- a toss up between a head stand, childs pose and everyone’s fave, savasna (that’s nap time at the end of class). And now that my book is done, at long last, I can resume my 2011 goal of doing a handstand. I bet these pants would be great for that too!
Our friends over at Energy Xpressions had a few things to say about these sweet, sweet threads- The sense signature pants!
Sense clothing reflects a commitment to a healthy, active lifestyle.  Intended to be mixed with anything in your wardrobe, Sense is made exclusively for active women who enjoy the freedom of travel and the freedom of movement.

  2. Megan says:

I like child’s pose because it really helps center me.

  3. Shannon C says:

I recently started a yoga routine, which is exciting. My one fav pose is the cat-cow stretch. Any stress I have seems to go right for my back and I find this simple pose really helps. Also, can’t lie – savasna also rocks – especially when my mind shuts off and I can focus on relaxing.

  4. Beth says:

I’m a big fan of upward dog…such a good back/chest/quad stretch! These skants
    look so comfy.

  5. Truthfully, savasana is my favorite, but I am also a big fan of the tree pose… I always feel really balanced and powerful when in it!

  6. Malakai says:

Mountain pose for sure. It keeps me grounded. Pigeon as well is a great releasing pose I always feel so much better after doing it for a long period of time in a yin class.

  7. Jen says:

Child pose does it for me. With a PARS fracture (lower back fracture that never heals), this pose allows me a good stretch without putting any pressure on the fracture.

  8. mizlgw says:

i’m such an unbalanced person … but i can do savasna! it is my fave b/c i’m pretty sure i won’t fall over doing it!

  9. this eco-friendly line is crafted from a biodegradable beechwood fabric that wears like a dream. http://t.co/m317XePw via @meghantelpner

  10. Marilene says:

Pigeon pose is my top yoga pose. It’s a great hip and mind opener. My step is always lighter after this pose and my mind feels more centered. I hope to do a handstand one day too!

  11. tanya gerald says:

I love the cobra. The stretch relaxes me and it is one that I can do no matter what!

  12. Nicole says:

My fav yoga position is fish pose. I have tight shoulders and chest, it feels so good to open them up…plus how often during the day do I get to look like a fish? :)

  13. @TodayisBananas @ms_marilene @leroux_danielle @mizlgw @FarthingAngela @AmiLangman @ShanDMC Keep those tushies warm http://t.co/8q8Ye7k6

These would be awesome for my upcoming birthday yoga and vegan lunch in the zen den (where we eat traditionally sitting on the floor).

  15. Val says:

Childs pose and pidgeon are up there as favourites for me, but lately I’ve really been appreciating half shoulder stand. The process of getting into and out of it seems to help my back stay loose and prevent the back pain I’ve had during other winters.

How is Energy Xpressions on size? Many yoga clothing lines for women stop around size 10, so larger women are left having an extremely hard time finding yoga clothes.

  16. Tamara says:

Child pose – i find it very healing for my lower back and hips

  17. Donna says:

Proud warrior for the power it gives this height-challenged 54 year old!

  18. My favorite pose is tree. I try to do it every day for a few minutes to relax and feel connected to nature.

  19. Rachel says:

It’s a toss up between pigeon and sleeping hero – I love the way both poses really help me feel open. I’m also loving dancer’s pose – I’m still wobbly some days but I feel so proud of myself when I can see my foot over my shoulder!

  20. Courtney says:

My favorite pose is child’s pose. Great stretch and very relaxing!

  21. Dreena Burton says:

Tho I’m used to hosting giveaways rather than entering, these are too freaking cute to pass up! Practicing pigeon, to stretch out my hips and buns! Thanks Meghan. :)

  22. Chantal coffin says:

My favorite pose is the chair pose because it feels like my whole spine has been streched. After that pose you feel so invigorated.

  23. Jade says:

My favourite pose is Tree Pose. There’s something about it that just feels so grounding!

  24. Wendy says:

I love child’s pose when I’m at home and just needing to stretch out my back, but during a yoga session I love breathing through downward dog…so relaxing!

  25. Erica says:

My favorite is for sure the pigeon. My yoga practice never feels complete without it. There isn’t another pose that I find opens up the hip area as well, or feels as therapeutic. I wonder if this is what Bert means when he sings about “doin the pigeon” on my kids’ Sesame Street CD? Ha ha!

  26. What’s your favourite #yoga position? Tell us and win! http://t.co/IVYpBXgb #giveaway

  27. Nerissa says:

My favorite yoga pose is half moon pose….I love it because I have scoliosis which was corrected with a spinal fusion and rods over 20 years ago and I tend to feel a bit stiff in my back. This pose seems to lengthen my back and neck and really stretches out all those back muscles. After doing it everything seems more relaxed. (I also likes the post on FB)!

  28. Laurel says:

Cow face pose for my tight hips and shoulders – aahh, feels good just thinking about it!

  29. Becky says:

child’s pose, for sure! makes me feel so safe – a hug from me to me :)

  30. Vrinda Eapen says:

Without a doubt, my favourite yoga pose is a chilled out restorative waterfall (aka. Legs up the wall). But that’s a low key soak up the universe pose. I’m also a sucker for a good Crow pose and would love to try out some new wears while in it. <3

  31. Shamima says:

I love the cobra pose as it makes me feel energized and strong.
    Shamima

  32. Lisa says:

I have a love hate relationship with the pigeon pose… It feels great to stretch out my hips and butt, but it can be really intense!

  33. Anita Alvarez says:

savasna–is that a true pose? I love it because it forces me to slow down and relax.

  34. Shanna says:

Just starting out with some yoga, and right now my favorite is childs pose…nice stretch and very relaxing.

  35. Savannah says:

Cobra and Child’s Pose! Cobra is great stretch after an ab workout and child’s pose just aligns and stretches out my aching back from baby wearing all day!

  36. Bridge! it’s so opening and so strengthening. I want to be able to do a good one still at age 70. In fact I should try to do one today! Always important to relax and counter it with a forward bend and Sivasana afterwards.

  37. I’m keepin’ my yogi butt covered with @meghantelpner and @EnergyXpression http://t.co/HgfD5lG6 #jQ538d50

I love supported child’s pose because it feels like getting an awesome hug :o )

  41. Ann gabal says:

I love all yoga so it’s difficult to pin it down to one pose, but one of my favs is upward facing bow. It is so energizing and really opens the heart, reminding me of all the goodness I have in my life–something I overlook some days when my strict dietary needs become frustrating.
    Thanks!

  42. Five Seed says:

Twists of any variety are my favorite- I love that sensation of “wringing out” the funk and welcoming in new energy!

down dog because it stretches out my calves

  52. Laura says:

I think my favorite pose is karandavasana. You go up to a forearm stand, then get into lotus, then slowly lower your legs till your knees balance on your arms. It’s very hard for me and took me years to accomplish, so though it’s not my best pose, it’s a big deal that I can do it!

    Cool pants!

  56. Erika says:

My favorite pose is Garudasana, or Eagle Pose. I love how much fierceness and concentration it takes for me to do it successfully, and yet when I am holding it I feel calm and strong.

  57. Angela says:

Viprarita Kirani – “legs up the wall pose” – comes with many anti-gravity benefits of handstands and headstands but it’s not so scary and is just about relaxation and restoration. Who doesn’t need a little more of that in their lives! ;-)

  58. veganlisa says:

I’ve been working on inversions a lot lately and have become quite a fan of Crow pose. It is hard and takes a lot of both concentration and confidence. I like that it challenges me and provides a great sense of accomplishment when I manage to hold it for more than a few seconds.

  59. MelissaO says:

My current favorite is crow. An instructor showed me a little modification for the short-armed and unstable and I’ve been trying it often and getting more confident. I also managed to hold it last week for a WHOLE five second! And then I immediately fell on my face.

  60. Joanne says:

I really like the prayer twisted pose. It requires strength, concentration, balance and controlled breathing. Just about covers every aspect of yoga for me.

  61. Stephanie says:

After you get over the initial uncomfortableness, downward dog feels awfully nice!

  62. Leah says:

These pants look amazingly comfy and so cute!!! My fav yoga pose is cat pose, such a good stretch since I suffer from a lot of lower back pain. Thanks for the chance to win!

My fave yoga pose is camel. It always makes me feel really strong.

  67. Taryn says:

I’m really digging the camel pose lately – open the heart and let the light shine in.

the pants skirt combo looks combo as all heck.

  68. Stephanie says:

My favourite yoga pose was always the child’s pose, so relaxing. However, I am in much need of a hip replacement and cannot do it at this time. Can’t wait to get back at some yoga!! With some lovely new skants, of course :)

  69. Netty says:

I love the Warrior 2 pose. I think of it as a total (re)centering position as my hand/arm in front is the future before me and my hand/arm behind me is the past that supports me. And my body is the present which is trying to maintain focus and breathe. Om

It’s so exciting to see these skants on giveaway here–I’ve had them on my amazon wishlist since I first found out about them–they’re the perfect thing to wear most of the time, especially now that I’m pregnant and chasing a 2 year old. :) I don’t have any yet, but I guarantee to wear this pair to death if I do win it! :-D

  78. Andrea says:

I don’t think I’m allowed to enter this one but I’m promoting it via blog and social media and answering the question because I want to promote the company and like to give my opinion:

My favourite poses: Savasana & child’s pose because they’re relaxing, balancing poses such as eagle and tree because they’re hard and require focus but also a sense of humour and pigeon because it’s a good stretch.

  79. Kay says:

skants?? What a great idea for yoga pants! I’ll be thrilled to wear such a thing to a yoga class.

I love to do the Half Moon pose – ardha chandrasana! Keeps me grounded and at the same time, makes me reach for the stars – showing that a middle ground can be achieved with right balance.
