This Friday, June 25th we depart for our amazing 3-day healing retreat just outside Toronto. Last chance to register and escape Summit Weekend! Making Love In The Kitchen e-Guide To Health Summer Sipping is now available. Sip up and enjoy!
I can’t stop sipping. I can’t! Ever since I started experimenting with recipes for my new ebook Summer Sipping and testing out all the sweet treats my delicious readers sent in, I just can’t stop mixing goodies up in my blender and sipping the day away with these delightfully refreshing bevvies.
My newest creation is this power berry mix- and it is so deliciously simple. I sipped this right up after my walk by the beach last week.
Power Berry Lemonade
1/2 cup blue berries
1/2 cup strawberries
1 whole lemon, peeled
pinch of sea salt
1 cup of ice
water as needed
stevia or honey to taste
- Blend
- Sip
- Find Love
One of the keys to this whole sipping experience is the love affair I have with my straw. I have been using straws since back in the day when I was sick with a pesky case of Crohn’s disease and had to suck back the most vile of vile teas. It went something like this…
That’s what I did to get healthy ! (Well part of what I did anyway) These teas were not only making me gaggify, they were turning my teeth an icky colour and so I bought myself some straws. Made the whole process much easier and I got hooked on straws. My boyfriend at the time thought I was ridiculous for washing out and reusing my plastic straws over and over again. In fact, I do still have some of them. I took to drinking everything with a straw and never went back.
So you can imagine how over the rainbow excited I was when Strawsome first made an appearance. Love at first sip I tell you! And they come in all sorts of fun shapes and sizes. One for every possible sipping occasion.
This is such an easy way for all of us to leave just a wee bit of a greener footprint, reduce our exposure to toxic plastics (and toxic tooth whitening treatments!) and better enjoy the sipping of our favourit bevys. How can you not love a company that offer s a lifetime guarantee? That’s right my sweet sippers- a lifetime! And if you keep sipping up my sweet beverages in Summer Sipping and Green Smoothies, that lifetime will be a long and healthy one!
And in case you are worried about the glass straw + child factor, rest assured that these straws are made from borosilicate glass, the safest and strongest glass commercially available.
Sip up every last drop this summer <slurp, sip, bottom of glass slurping noise>. Aaaaah!
Question of the day: I grew up in Winnipeg, Slurpee capital of the world. Not that I would drink a Slurpee now- that would be like my decade’s worth of sugar- but I am curious- what summer frozen treat was your fave as a kid?
You know the rules of the game by now!

Hi, Would love one of these straws to test out! I’m going to check out their site for kids styles as well!
I also follow you and dharma glass on twitter and have joined both facebook groups! Thanks.
I love my glass straws and so do the kids. So far we haven’t broken any and it’s been at least 6 months. Our straws are smoothie straws which are great for all those frozen drinks – not sure of the brand name.
Thanks for the new drink recipe – I’ll be sure to try it today. I think I have all those ingredients.
I really like the glass straw. I always feel hesitant to reuse a plastic one because I don’t have a good way to clean it, so the brush looks great!
I would LOVE to win one of these for my green smoothies!
I follow you on Facebook already!
I have been eyeing those straws — oh boy, would LOVE to win one and try it out! And yes, we go through straws like crazy here and it would be nice to get rid of the plastic ones. Thanks, Meghan!!
You and your kids would love them Jennifer! I know how you all love your smoothies
I follow you on twitter
I’m a member of your facebook group too…
I just “liked” the Glass Dharma page on fb.
I love straws, there is something so fun about drinking out of them. I wash and re-use plastic straws too. It just seems crazy to throw away a straw if I’ve only used it once.
My favorite frozen summer treat was an Oreo Blizzard from Dairy Queen. I was never a big Slurpee person.
Banana smoothies were my favorite as a kid.
Love it! I’ve been eying those straws for awhile. What if we already follow you on Twitter & Facebook? I tweeted this post. I’ll blog it today. I shall follow & fan GlassDharma later when I have access.
The Power Berry Lemonade looks refreshing, but blueberries aren’t in season. Will either wait a few weeks or buy frozen.
This is my comment to you. Winning one straw will likely beget buying another.
I follow you on twitter already, and I am a facebook fan as of several months ago. I’ve just begun to follow GlassDharma on both of these media as well.
I have also blogged your contest. Here is my link:

I’m in it to win it.
Enjoy the sunshine!
Genius! I’ve had the same straw in use for about 6 months now! It is plastic however and I make these twisted little pipe cleaner friends that live at my sink to wash them. I love the idea of an elegant straw and something equally elegant to clean it with! I’ll look em up! Thanks!
I would love to win a glassdharma straw!!! I’ve seen the one with the cute decoration dots on them and I really loved them!
I’m a member of your facebook group!
Those glass straws sound so cool. Would love to try it out!
I have your Summer Sipping Tutorial and I am loving it.
I have made a bunch of the recipes already. My fav so far….the strawberry and rhubarb drink, i used stevia instead of honey because i am watching my sugar intake. So yummy ;o)
My company on the weekend loved the watermelon lemonade…..i made a spiked verson for them (added vodka). It was a true hit!
I posted the giveaway on my blog!

Yippppyyy this straw would make me happy and my gag-inducing healing potions much more fun
Following you on Twitter too!

I would love to try a Dharma straw! I follow you on twitter and have followed GlassDharma on twitter as well.
i could definitely use one of these (i’m guilty of straw-washing as well!) but i also have a question about those teas you’re referring to. are they chinese herbal teas? my TCM acupuncturist has me on herbal teas, and they are absolutely FOUL! it takes me an hour and several teeth-brushings to get them down, and that’s with a lot of gagging and nose plugging. do these always have to be drank hot? or can i drink them cold (with a straw)? im desperate!

Oooo, I’ve always wanted a glass straw! Smoothie sipping is 10X better with a straw. Also, I used to LOVE ICEES as a kid – I’d mix up all the flavors and make one big cup of brown sugar mush. Gross to think about now!

Everyday I do at least 3 things that make me happy, help me relax and keep me sane in the midst of the rat race and often chaos of Toronto. I go for a walk with no destination in mind. I drink one of my favourite herbal teas. I eat something green (at least once a day) so my body can feel good and pure. I let my boyfriend give me a foot massage and sometimes a neck massage to get out my daily tension. I give someone a hug and mean it. I read something inspiring and spiritual to develop my inner self. I say positive affirmations to help me find my way in life. Imagine doing all of these things everyday! That’s a whoooole lot of happiness!
Things that I do everyday that make me happy:
1. Tell my family(husband & toddler) that I love them.
2. Count my blessings by thanking God
3. Practise yoga.
4. Prepare healthy meals for my family.
Received my straw in the mail last week — thank you, thank you, thank you! I LOVE it!! Now, time to order some for the rest of the fam
Have an awesome weekend!!
I love straws too!!!
