I didn’t have an appropriate photo for all that is to be shared here- so you get me and some balloons. And in the event that you may ask, because it really is darn cute, my dress is from Anthropologie. I am standing in front of some blooming Gingko trees at my parents house last weekend on the occasion of my neice’s baby naming. Now I can’t mention Mia Jean’s naming without showing you this shunffleybumpkin-pumpkin seed of a little girl…

She’s just three months old and already knows what’s what when it comes to hair accessories. I think she might be taking after her auntie Meghan.

Now on to the announcements of the day.

1. Find Me In iTunes!
Yepper, skipper. You can now subscribe to my brand shiny new podcast via iTunes.  What fun! Of course you could always subscribe via RSS or email as well. So if you would be so kind as to hop on over to iTunes and perhaps drop me a sweet rating or perhaps a comment, that would be nice.

2. Inside Scooples

Yes, I know, you get a lot of email and there is lots you can subscribe to. Let me break it down for you right now.

  • Monthly Newsletter: This is an important list to be on! This is where you find out first hand about upcoming classes, workshops and get the inside scoop on what I am up to in the land beyond the blog. The next newsletter is going out on Tuesday. Get on the list!
  • Blog RSS: Want to get my daily posts in your RSS feed? Add to your google reader or wherever you like to read your blogs? Well that is what the little orange symbol up top is all about. You can organize that here.
  • Blog by Email: Are you more of an email inbox kinda person? I can offer you that too! You can subscribe to the blog to receive the newest post to your inbox a little after 9:00am EST each morning.
  • Podcast Subscription: Moving forward, all vids will also be part of iTunes and the podcast subscription so if you want to receive those separately you can get them through iTunes or via RSS

Now that, that is all sorted- moving right along…

3.  My Bike Has A Name
I was away up North last week when all the ideas were flying about what to name the new green boy in my life. I was surprises that there were so many penis-like names offered- Woody and Peter? Seriously? For me of all people? I couldn’t have a bike named Woody. “I gotta run. Just heading out for a ride on woody”. See? No way.

There were also a lot of Bernie/Bernard suggestions which wouldn’t work because that’s my sister-in-law’s dad’s name. So “going for a ride on Bernie” is wrong in many many ways. I tossed around some of my own ideas- Wild Leek, Sprout, Willis, Olive… but the suggestion that made my heart sing the most was… (sound the trumpets). Marley.

I am going with Marley! Thank you Jody for that suggestion. You will be receiving a complementary copy of Healing with Superfoods.

Why Marley? I have a thing for Bob Marley whom I affectionately refer to as uncle Bob. I would like to name my child Marley but I don’t have a child and it is perfectly gender neutral. Marley is downstairs getting to know Dexter- my Lesbian bike who is tough and nuetral-bike-black and pretty manly looking, but still a girl. Marley and Dexter make a great pair.

4. The Adoption of Betty

I have decided to grant adoption of Betty to Lexi. Lexi wrote:

I have been a long time reader of your blog and was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s. A huge part of what helped me through the initial shock of the diagnosis was your The Healthy Cookie. Reading it so soon after y diagnosis made me realize that I needed to change my life and live a more healthy life full of sunshine, rainbows and sparkle magic. I would like part of that life to include Betty. A bike that has been a wonderful journey and has seen first hand all of the wonderful healing and miracles that can occur. If I get to adopt Betty, I will take excellent care of her and make sure to take her to High Park and farmer’s markets regularly. I will also make sure she is a part of my healing journey.

I believe all things have energy to them and I think that right now, Lexi needs the love and energy I have given to Betty. Betty is a slow ride- but that is what makes her special. She gave me no choice but to slow down in my travels, take my time, look around, be present and enjoy the process. All key ingredients in a healing journey. Take good care of her Lexi- I know you will!

Thank you to everyone who offered suggestions and pleas for adoption. It was not an easy decision to make.

See you bright and early tomorrow morning for a yummy Monday recipe and an announcement of who my special guest co-host will be on Wednesday night’s live show!

Okay, I am being totally honest here – I really was thinking of “green” and the woods when I suggested Woody as a name! The whole other thing never even crossed my mind (gotta get out of Thornhill more!) But now that you mention it. . . I think Marley will be a perfect name :) Happy trails.

The maqui berry and leaves were also utilized by the Mapuche for a variety of uses in everyday life. The Mapuche tribe – which still makes up about 10% of Chile’s population – continues to consume this super fruit to this day.
