Oh, I guess that's possible, is it bad if I drank it? I've never done this before so I assumed that's what it was supposed to taste like...

Hi Meghan, I tried this tonight. Evan broke open the coconut for me. The making of the milk was pretty messy, and it smelled like liquor. I added dates, honey, cinnamon, cacao and it still had a wierd taste to me. I'm going to soak cashews overnight and make cashew milk to mix in with it. I love homemade cashew milk!

Is the Vitamix that great? I've been holding off on the investment bc my blender's already quite powerful. But I want to make nut cheese and lotsa stuff (got a recipe for that, btw?)
Anyway, loving your blog here! Seems you don't use young Thai coconuts, is one type of coconut better than another? Sorry if you answered that someplace; didn't see it.

My friend brought me home a coconut today so we could try making milk like in your video. Two questions: 1. the coconut she brought home was white on the outside, any idea what's up with that? 2. We have a regular kitchen blender - do you think the blender we use has to be a certain number of vaults in order not to break it when blending the coconut meat with the husky skin?

Love your blog!
Thank you for your time :)

I'm afraid I take the easy way out - water and dessicated coconut in the Vita-Mix. Some day, I'll try your old school luau version!
