A little bit of quick-tip-health-love. These are the kinds of no-nonsense easy-peazy-lemon-squeezy healthy eating, time saving tips I share at my Healthy Meal Prep Workshop (You coming over to play on February 7th?).

This one is allzabout the salad dressing. If you want to eat healthy, you are going to be eating caboodles full of salad. A salad is not just about the vegetables you add to your mix of green’s but seriously, don’t miss out on the dressing. It really is a shame to create a big beautiful healthful salad, and then dump some ‘fat-free-ranch’ nonsense all over it.

As I am currently super-powered obsessed with incorporating as much Superoods as I can into everyday eating, something I share in my Raw Super Food Power Workshop (you coming over to play on February 6th?) I make the most of my salad dressing.

I pull together the very the best oils, superfoods and herbs,   I do it once a week, I seal it up in a sweet little 250 ml mason jar and I store it in the fridge. Every time I go to mix up a salad, I just pour a little on and it is all good in the hood.

Since I already prepped all my herbs and veggies, I can make a salad in two minutes flat. It goes like this:

1. Heaping handful of greens
2. A little bit of this and a little bit of that salad toppings
3. A sprinkle of cooked beans or lentils or nuts or seeds (or all of the aforementioned)
4. A drizzle of a super powered pre-mixed home-blended dressing and I am ready to rock out with my… salad dressing.

Need more inspiration? Really? Very well then:

What’s the blend of the week?

Super Hemp Dress
1/4 cup Flax Oil
1/2 lemon, juiced
1 Tbs Dijon mustard
1 Tbs goji berries
1 Tbs hemp seeds
sea salt to taste
1 tsp raw honey (optional)

Blend, pour into jar, store in fridge. Done and done.

And remember- this prepping thing is an important time saver!

Great time saving tips! I have to say, with as much as I love my greens I never knew or thought to store them up right in a jar of water.. this is going to save so much time and effort!! I assume you can do this trick with other greens such a collards, and chard? Thanks again, love your bloggie! :)

I was going to buy flax oil the other day…
    Does it taste like flax?

Salad dressings seriously do make or break a salad. They really have as much of an effect on a salad as our clothes do on our body (except: naked salad= a little bland, naked body= delicious & exciting :)

People seem to be disproportionately amazed that you can make your own dressing (easily) that tastes as good as store-bought. It’s a forgotten art! People don’t know how simple it is! For me, garlic is always the star ingredient. I’ve never thought about blending gojis in there, though!

    Great idea!

Mmmm! My family is not a fan of flax oil, mustard, goji berries or hemp seeds alone, but this dressing is perfect. No one could guess any of those ingredients were included! Thanks for mixing up our standard salad :)
Oh, and this dressing is great on top of the previous post’s Snackers, too :)

Love the idea of “use it all up” salad! And that has to be the cutest blog entry title–ever. :)
