I don’t have a business plan. I have never had a 5-year plan. I don’t know what I was thinking when 2008 ended and 2009 began. I can’t even begin to guess what my expectations were, but I do know that I did not expect what came.  I have learned, in my short life, that goals, though may be helpful, really mean nothing. They may be our driving force but we have to be flexible with the outcome. We are pretty teeny tiny, yes? The universe is pretty massive, yes? So what makes us think we actually have any control over what the universe throws our way? My meditation teaches that if we are to try and control our own evolution, all this really ends up leading to is our own suffering. When we can open and take things, the good and the bad, as they come, is how we learn and grow and evolve. The good with the bad always for the unknown is the safest place to be. And what was delivered to me this year? More goodness, more success, more abundance and more life nourishing love than I ever could have imagined.

2008 began with yoga in the rainforest of Dominica,

where I got to hike through waterfalls,

ans maybe take off my clothes and take a dip.

and of course make a little music on an organic mushroom farm

I got to teach lots of classes and

do a lot online too for those of you far away.  Green Smoothie anyone?

I made lots of time to spend with my two fave things: bicycles and beaches
and even ventured over to Ireland

with my whole group of friends from high school for one of my bestest friend’s weddings. One wasn’t enough and so off to Winnipeg for another dear friend’s wedding.

In amongst the busyness, I took the time to smell the flowers…

And do so with great friends like JoshAnd Melanie

I developed a new addiction

and worked my heart out to spread the health vibe at bigger and bigger events like the Fresh ScreeningAnd the Toronto Vegetarian Food Fair

And out on the street to give away some apples.

I made some new friends…

like Amy…

And David

Ripped apart the heart of my home….

And it did hurt…

But we put her back together again

And  I could carry on doing what I love.

In my personal life,  the fig

became the date

and we had adventures together with bicycles,

nature,

with food,

and sharing thought, ideas and opinions.

I spent lots of time with my family

cookingand being healthy.

This year, I turned 30 and know for sure that age is just a number.

As long as you can live life full of colour,

with a sense of creation,

a sense of humour,

an appreciation for beauty,

and a curious mind,

while creating time to for Making…

Love…
In…

The…

Kitchen,

then wherever you go and whatever you do, sunshine…

and rainbows…

are always in abundance.

With the greatest amount of gratitude, thank you for participating in my year and helping to make it the best year ever. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Happy New Year!

Meghan, you said it all, and you did so with your wonderful, characteristic colour, enthusiasm and energy. It has been quite a year for me as well, and I have quietly drawn a lot of inspiration from you throughout it. Although you couldn’t have a clue, you have so often mirrored what I have been thinking as I have moved through my own crazy, wonderful life with all the ups and downs it has thrown me this year. Thank you again for being a source of sunshine and inspiration.

As I look ahead to all the opportunities and adventures that wait for me in 2010, I will continue to follow yours as well (and to direct people your way!) – I can’t wait to see how the stories unfold!

I just found your blog after beginning – and finishing – your friend Vanessa’s book in two days. I now feel (rather creepily for you, I’m sure) like I know you and we would be best friends and could share all sorts of eco-friendly giggly times together. Not to worry – I won’t slip into stalkerville anytime soon. But I will, while sitting in my livingroom in Ottawa on a snowy Saturday morning, take inspiration from both you and Vanessa to make it a better and healthier world for my family and myself. Thank you so much.
