It was Low Glycemic Eating week here at Making Love in The Kitchen and I write this as I enjoy my first bowl of oatmeal in a week. I have of course loaded it up with all sorts of healthy fat, protein and fibre rich good things like ground flax seeds, coconut oil and some chopped walnuts to lower the glycemic load. I doused it in blood sugar balancing cinnamon and sweetened it with a smidgle of a dash of stevia. That’s how we do it and this hot bowl of goodness will keep me running smooth and steady.
If you participated this week, I would love to know your experience, what worked for you, what didn’t, what you liked, what you didn’t like? It was the first time I have run that program and feedback with cinnamon sprinkled on top is the breakfast of champions.
Also- this is the last weekend to vote for your fave Health Bloggers. If I may be one, cast your ballot love over this way. Making Love In The Kitchen is currently in second place which is pretty exciting.
It was quite the week here with some strong views shared around artificial sweetener. Hope you learned a little something something and like I explained yesterday, even if it’s not quite the right time to make the changes we all know we should for our health, being aware of what we are eating is a massively positive start. As they say (I am not sure who though), ignorance may be bliss, but knowledge is power.
I am on holidays now and it is sweet. Of course I keep writing. Writing is the holiday I get every single day but unlike I normally do, I haven’t a clue what this week will bring on Making Love In The Kitchen- likely not much cooking but a whole a lot of life. That’s what stopping lets us do. Live.
As for the week that just zipped by us:
- Cracker Jacking :Low GI can’t take my crackers away
- Artificial Sweeteners: Sipping On Poison, Part 1
- Artificial Sweeteners: Sipping On Poison, Part 2
- Shalom To The Latka! Happy Chanuka- I may have posted this a day early but who makes up the rules of when we should celebrate something?
- Spare Some Change? How you gonna kick it? Gonna kick it to the curb… those bad habits that is.
Off to catch some acupuncture!

Hi Meghan, Enjoy your holiday get a way and that wonderful bowl of oatmeal. I had rice last night with vegetables and fish. It was HEAVEN
I can’t wait to hear all about your other participant’s results too. I REALLY REALLY had a hard time with this. I was tired, COLD, CRANKY, weepy, and even a smidgen of depression set in. Day 1 was the best. (probably still had sugar in my veins)
I really want to just cry uncle and go back but knowing what I do now made me a believer that if sugar has this much a grip on healthy ole me…than it’s the devil incarnate! (I kid, but I am serious)
This strengthened my resolve to continue learning nutrition and it’s effect on our physical and mental health…I actually googles nutrition schools last night.
I lost 6 lbs total. in just a measly 5 days. I am still waiting for the “more energy and such” Maybe today, no?
I am going to be VERY VERY picky about my sugar and carb choices in the future but the one surprise was EVERY STINKING recipe in your tutorial was AMAZING! So thanks for that.
Well, here’s to the rest of December being much more sugar free!
who woulda thougth?
happy holidays
Cindy
not “surprised” that your recipes were good…just that eating low GI can be AMAZING.
sorry that came out sounding like I am surprised your recipes are good…I’ve never tried one I didn’t totally love
xo
Hey Meghan I just cooked up a huge batch of adzuki beans and I am not sure what I want to do with them (I thought of making your burgers but I feel like I just made those and I am looking for something new.) Any ideas?
