Yeah so it was all about the benefits of taking to the plants this week. We talked immune system, we talked cholesterol and we talked poop. You with me on this? You obviously don’t need to buy the tutorial to play along on the 5 Days Vegan challenge beginning September 15th. It is simply a guide for those who like to be guided. I will be coaching via Twitter all next week so be sure to follow me and get my tweet tweet tweets.
To recap in case you missed any of my posts this week. Here you are sugar plum:
Monday: Word Is Out On 5 Days Vegan
Always nice when someone else promotes the goods. This from foodsthatfit.ca which received a couple anger ridden comemnts over on their site. Who knew vegetarians and meat eaters had so much animosity towards a suggestion to avoid eating an abundance of bread and pasta. People direct their pent up anger towards the strangest things.
And the titles of the following posts essentially speak for themselves.
- Boost Immunity With Plants and Pizza (Recipe)
- Look Younger with Plants and Burgers (Recipe)
- Lower Cholesterol with Plants and Porridge (Recipe and Video)
- Save A Zoo with Plants and… well, Plants!
- Poo More with Plants and Apples (Recipe for resolving constipation)
And then I give a plea to attend one of my events this weekend so that I am not presenting to myself. I do that enough when I cook for the camera.

I have missed so much on your blog this week, off to check it out now!
Hello Meghan!
I’m both nervous and excited to get going on the challenges this week. Although I already do daily smoothies and avoid meat and animal products, I still don’t include enough fresh produce into my life. And you’re right . . . it’s out of laziness. I’m going to try to break that habit. So, in preparation, I just watched your fabulous veggie prep video. Here are my questions . . . what do you use to wash your veggies? Do you wash everything before storing them? Or do you wash some things just before using them? One more thing . . . I just started incorporating kale (which I’m not even sure I had heard of until a couple of months ago) into my smoothies and juices. But the kale I have found looks so different from yours. Yours is big and leafy while what I have is more compact and ruffly looking–are there different variations?
Thanks!
Bliss to you!
Jeana
Forgive me for being pesty . . . what do you use to wash your produce? Just water?
Thanks again!
Very kind. Lots of thanks!
Aloha Meghan,
Will you be doing another 5 day vegan challenge soon? Or can I still go online, purchase the challenge and follow along that way?
Mahalo,
Kellie
All kinds of different varieties of kale. Pick what you like best. I tend to wash most vegetables in advance of storing- just for ease. The one exception is herbs and greens. I wash those as needed- otherwise they get awfully wilty. SO happy you are joining the vegan fun!
Sorry- missed that part. I choose to wash my produce just in water- letting it soak in a sink full. If you like, or depending where your produce comes and all those other things, you can wash it in a tub/sink full of water with a little vinegar diluted in it. Clean as clean can be.
You can get the tutorials anytime! We will be doing it again as a group but why wait? Get your own group together (or just your household/friends/roommates) and get it on veggie style!
