What a week it has been! Never have I longed more to be lounging by the sea on some sweet, sunshiny tropical island. Instead of being on said island, or even at the local bars celebrating Scotiabank Caribana, I have been drowning in kitchen renovations. Monday morning started off as any other, posting my blog and enjoying a bowl of quinoa porridge with some ground flax, cacao and a sprinkle of maca powder and green tea. The week ended with me haphazardly moving into my parents house, losing my wallet and a single running shoe in my disassembled (read demolished) loft and wondering what I thought would happen when my kitchen was ripped out. Don’t we all just love surprises! Alas, I am off to the cottage to sleep a week’s worth with of sleep in three days and enjoy the sun (or Cambodian style monsoon might be more accurate).
Have a great long weekend!
Monday: Caribbean Curry without the Goat (Recipe)
I really do think the title says it all.
Tuesday: Rub It On Me Belly Like Guava Jelly (Recipe)
Nothing says Caribbean breakfast like Guava Jelly, Jonnycakes and Bob Marley. Let’s give’m a right old reggae bash mash up and enjoy them all together.
Wednesday: Pass The Peas (Recipe)
Nothing says Caribbean meal like the staple rice and peas. If it’s great for the West Indies, it must be great for vegans and for me! And who knew the secret of this sweetness lay in cooking the grains in coconut milk.
Wednesday: My Kitchen Renovation: Day 1
A little before and during shots of the destruction formerly known as ‘Making Love In the Kitchen Headquarters.
Thursday: Jerk It Out (Recipe)
Ever wonder how the Jamaicans came up with Jerk sauce? Me too!
Thursday: Kitchen Renovation: Day 3
Three days later and it’s still not done. I clicked my heals, I wished on a star, I blew out some candles, I opened a cookie, I read my horoscope, I dreamed a little dream, I made a vision board and it still wasn’t done yet. My furniture is pink though so that makes me happy.
Friday: Too Much Rum Cream? The Holistic Hangover Cure
Again, I believe the title says it all.

Ahh Caribbean Week…breath of fresh air with some great stories. Love Maca Powder! I add it to my morning smoothies. My girlfriend swears it has saved her from all the lovely gifts mother nature brings her during that time.
hmm when things get more situated in my body I might have to look into that maca powder. I actually saw some at whole foods today
