This is Nourish Your Soul Week. We are well in to summer and it is time to start enjoying it. This week is dedicated to just that, enjoyment of life. All week I will posting about things- music, books, people, and lots of other goodness that Nourishes my Soul. What nourishes you?
I love this song shamelessly. Brett Denen was introduced to me by one of my dearest friends, Alyssa. Alyssa and I met at a meditation class and it was totally love at first site. We were inseparable the rest of the time I lived in LA. We went to yoga together, did arts and crafts together, went for bike rides together and regularly laughed until we would weep. As it turns out, many people from our meditation group thought Alyssa and I were the same person- like there was only one of us instead of two. I’ll take it as a compliment. She is a cutie and has the best taste in music. The photo below was taken shortly after we met, on one of the many afternoon we spent talking by the ocean, catching sun and playing California Girl.

I love Brett Dennen!! Joey introduced me to his music, just before I started your classes and it was instant love. So when I showed up to my first class and he was playing in the loft, I knew I was in the right place!

I’ve gotten alot of help and inspiration from your recent posts, and have followed your writing since you started. I would like you to consider working with me via phone if you take clients that way. If this is something you are willing to do, can you please email me. Traditional approaches to nutrition for 20 years now have done nothing in my attempts to recover from disordered eating. It is time to take the road less traveled!
Conventional indeed, the SAD diet, the American Dietetic exchanges, structured meal plans, food groups, measuring, intuitive deserts…ahhh….none of it ‘worked’, and you know why…becuase I never believed it. I never liked it. I felt I was doing just as much damage eating these ways as I was in the eating disorder. So I went back to what emotionally at least would numb me, all the while knowing there must be some was that was more natural, that made more sense…none of what they were telling me made sense to me….I would shake there heads at them, and then try to make myself go home and eblieve it through the way I ate. I email you…I have hope, but more excitement really that I may finally get to eat in a way that is congruent with my beliefs about this universe!
Wow, great song. He is very talented, thanks for the introduction. I am googling him as we speak. Looks like he is coming to Toronto in Sep.
Look at you, cutie patootie with the bangs and short hair. LOVE it! I know it’s an older pic, but that haircut totally reflects your vibrant, free-spirited personality.
Thanks for the introduction to Mr. Denen!
Earthmother- Thanks for the compliment on the hair
Notice how thin it is compared to now? That was from when I was in LA under treatment. I had lost so much hair while I was sick so I cut it all off… I would love a cute little haircut now but I have too much hair (now that I am healthy)! Not that I’m complaining of course.
AHHHHH! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Brett Dennen. I hope you’ve heard “I Ain’t Gonna Lose You” by him. It is the moooost fantastic song. And as a red head myself, I dig his fiery red locks
Thank you Heather! Always such a treat to know who is reading me. By traditional nutrition, do you mean conventional? And have no fear, this road less travelled is developing a rush hour in the best possible way! You are certainly not alone. I will be in touch.
