I wasn’t going to post again today, but given that it is Earth Day, it is really only fitting that I make the follwoing announcements. Happy Earth Day! And my announcements. Three of them.

1. Good People Get Good Things
I love when people do good things without expecting anything in return. I have been known to invite people over to a cooking party simply for saying something to me that made my day. What I am announcing was not planned and the recipient, the good person about to get a good thing, will not know about said good thing until she reads this. But I would like to award Carrie of Ginger Lemon Girl a packet of Making Love In The Kitchen’s My Favourite Granola, in the Raw variety (of course). I came to Carrie’s blog, I am not sure how to find postings about Double Chocolate Brownie’s and Biscuits and Gravy (which to be honest- icked me out a little- sorry Carrie, it’s the meaty thing). Carrie was all over this Green Smoothie Challenge, wrote inspiring posts about it and stuck to it better than my own mother. Congratulations!!! You are awesome. (And drop me an email with your mailing address and I’ll drop some crunchy goodness in the post for you).
2. Green Smoothie Tutorial Available For Download
As I have mentioned, I did not anticipate the response I received about this Smoothie Cleanse. As I write this, I have 99 people on my list (if I count my brother who dropped out after he tasted the first drink). My week was turned upside down as I did my best to keep up with the registration, the emails, the comments and the questions. The tutorial is still available and I encourage you to still get it and still do the program. Even better- get your own little group together and do it together. A group helps. The tutorial is now priced at $12 and can be ordered and downloaded without me in the middle

3. I Am A Character
My grandma has told me forever that I was a character but one of my bestest friends proved it. Vanessa Farquarson, blogstress behind the website Green as A Thistle has just had her first book published, a memoir of her green year called Sleeping Naked Is Green and yours truly has a main character role as her trusty nutrionista side kick. We share many readers and people are always a little taken aback when they meet us and we are actualyl hanging out together, drinking from our stainless steel water bottles together. The year she took on her green challenge, I was in nutrition school and we became complete social nutters together. She puts it all in the book and I was not privy to any advance reading so I found out, right along with the rest of the readers what my preferred method of natural birth control is. There it is. In print. For my aforementioned 87 year-old grandma to read. It is now available in Canada and will be released in the US in June. Buy your copy!

I am reading Vanessa’s book right now…she is so funny!! It’s a really entertaining/informative read.
Aww I am in the US and will have to wait until June.
Meghan!! Thank you SO much!! You are incredibly kind and I just can’t tell you how much you have taught me on this fun journey of the past 5-6 days! You are such an encourager and I know my life will be better now (although sorry, I still love meat! hahaha!! ;-P) My husband and I were joking the other day that we would love to be vegetarians… but we just love chicken and bacon entirely too much! But how about flexitarians? I think I could deal with that!! I think we are going to try to have 3 meatless meals a week, and I have learned so much this week I have a great start already! I feel like a whole different person Meghan!! I think I can honestly day now that 3 days can change your life… and you can do ANYTHING for 3 days! I can’t WAIT to get your granola!! That is so nice of you!! thank you so much!! Meghan, you’ll never know how much this program has meant to me! I am doing a thoughtful post tonight on what I am continuing to learn from the past few days!! You rock woman!!
Yay for unexpected good things! And congrats to Carrie
The story about Vanessa’s book is hilarious. I read all of her eco posts the year she went “without” and loved them! I’m sure I’ll enjoy the book, too (and seeing your appearances in it!)
I was wondering if you will be doing more e turtorials on other topics. I missed this one but I would be interested in different topics. Just an idea. What do you think?
Please do your smoothie cleanse again someday…I’ve just ordered a juicer and am in a CSA for this summer (second year), and will be more than ready to participate for the next round!
By the way, I found your blog a few months ago and started growing my own sprouts per your instruction. I love them, and occasionally bring some to my Jazzercise class (I teach) to give out or as part of a snack for after class. Many people are now “sprouting” on their own…thank you for the inspiration and information on how to do this easily at home!
Your brother is a wuss.
(Says the girl who didn’t even attempt the challenge.)
I intended to buy the tutorial yesterday and then forgot, because my ADD mind is like that. I saw it on my to do list a few minutes ago. Now I’m here, instead of looking through my news reader and stopping here when I see a new post up via RSS. Firefox with its tabbed browsing makes it way too easy to me to get distracted and forget what I’m doing.
Thanks for the promo!! And BIG thanks to Sherry – I haven’t received much feedback yet, but am always happy to hear it, whether good or bad.
And Lesli – Meghan also got me turned onto sprouts; I make them at least every couple weeks now, and gave my boyfriend’s sister a whole sprouting kit for her birthday with directions to Meg’s instructional video.
Nerdiest. Present. Ever. But so worthwhile!
Sherry- I am so glad it’s funny to you too. I was weeping, I was laughing so hard but wondered if it was in part ’cause I was in it. Vanessa is a great writer!
Jen- I bet you could buy it on Amazon.ca and have it shipped to you. When there’s a will there’s a way. Or come up for visit!
Stephen- Lisa told me- And I am so excited that you are giving it a go too! Hope all is well with you!
Aj and Lesli- There will be another smoothie cleanse- I’m thinking around June 7th or the following week. As for more tutorials- I proposed the following: “Thanks to the success of this program, there will be more tutorials, programs and guides to come. I’m thinking weeks of raw, vegetarian, vegan, low-glycemic, and grain-free. Any other suggestions are more than welcome” in this post: http://meghantelpnerblog.com/2009/04/21/we-did-it/
But even if you missed the group cleanse- the tutorial is still and will always be available to use as your own resource guide.
Ricki- You’ll love the book!
gettinggreen- nerdier even that home made food wrapped in leftover bridesmaid dress?
