It makes perfect sense that seeds are incredibley healthy. They are the little itty powerhouse that will grow into a whole new plant, or even tree. Seeds represent life and therefore support our healthful life. There are all types of seeds- some that I use for sprouting and others that I eat just as they are (though I do often soak them before eating- especially if I am making milk from them).
I had a client over yesterday and I was going through her program with her and I could tell she was becoming a little overwhelmed and a little fearful over what her new life, filled with amazing healthful food, was going to look like. Now, don’t go thinking that all my cliens are fed treats, I just happened to have these leftover from my weekend workshop and I could tell she needed them.
So I served her a couple of my Honey and Seed Treats and her first response was “These are amazing. Are these health food? Like… they’re good for me?”. And all her worries (well most) vanished. When healthy food tastes good, you can convert anyone.
These honey seed treats are raw, gluten-free, dairy and sugar free and are sweetened with top grade raw honey. The assortment of seeds provides the anti-inflammatory, nervous system supportive and hormonal balancing omega 3 essential fatty acids. They are also a great source of fibre and protein- essential for slowing the absorption of sugars into the blood stream.
These are amazing alternatives to those processed and packaged protein bars and granola bars.
1 cup flax seeds (ground)
1/2 cup sesame seeds (ground)
1/3 cup pumpkin seeds, chopped fine
1/2- 3/4 cup raw honey
1/2-3/4 cup shredded dry coconut
cinnamon to taste
1/4 cup cocoa powder (optional)
2 Tbs chia seeds (optional)
- In mixing bowl, combine ground seeds with honey, coconut and cinnamon.
- Roll mixture into small round balls , or into a longer log shape
- Pour cocoa powder onto plate and roll balls through it to give them a light dusting of cocoa.
- Put in freezer.
- Remove from freezer about ten minutes prior to serving. If in a longer loh shape, slice into rounds using a serrated knife.
Green Smoothie Group Cleanse April 19th!- Details coming today!
Spring is springing and to celebrate, I would like to invite you to join me on a three day health adventure (no, you don’t need to go anywhere). Starting Sunday, April 19th, I will be starting a three day, green smoothie cleanse. Yes, just three days and it will be power packed with nutrient dense goodness. It will start on a Sunday to give you time to ease in. As it is a smoothie cleanse rather than a juice cleanse, you won’t experience the same kind of hunger. Over the next two weeks, I will be offering more information on green smoothie cleansing. This is an easy and well supported introduction to cleansing, using whole foods. Hope you’ll join me!

Hey thanks for the recipe & info on sprouts! I just started 3 sprouting trays 2 days ago and I’m trying to figure out what to do with all of them… I will soon be overcome with sprouts!
I’ve been relying on a similar sweet to quench my sweets cravings on the ACD. These look great! I’ve become a fan of seeds in recent years and I’m sure I’d love these.
this is an awesome recipe! I can’t wait to try it!! Thanks.
