Now, I am not one to brag but I must say, I might just have the most amazingly inspiring, motivating, ambitious, creative, and beautiful group of female friends. (Guys where are you? Many of us are looking for a fantastic man just like you!). The reason my girlfriends are so one-of-a-kind is because the bar was set pretty high by my very first fabulous girlfriend.
Macy and I met in kindergarten in Winnipeg, where we both lived. We went to elementary school together, summer camp together, took dance, sewing and cooking classes together. I moved away after grade 5 but we kept in touch. I would go there for a visit, she would come here… Ten years ago, she moved even further away- to BC, and still we made annual visits and regular phone dates.
A couple years ago, I ran into a friend who told me he was moving to Vancouver. I put on my little cupid wings and set them up. They have been dating for nearly two years and last week they moved here, to Toronto, together. He was like my little boomerang and brought back with him the most wonderful gift.
To welcome Macy to Toronto, I hosted a sweet little tea party so she could meet some of my girlfriends. It also gave me an excuse to get down and dirty in my kitchen.
What did I make? (recipes will follow… I promise!)
- Orange Almond Biscotti
- Mint Cocoa Truffles (a little twist on these)
- Maple flax cookies (inspired by these)
- Carrot cake
- Lemon Poppyseed Scones and Strawberry Butter and
- Honey cakettes (made by my sister-in-law)
Whenever I have people over to eat, I always make little name tags with ingredients for all the food. Everyone has their eating restrictions so this is helpful, I also think its nice to show off the good things in my food. Macy noticed how short the ingredient lists were and everyone thought it was all deelish! It was a beautiful afternoon.
I will get the recipes up soon but in the meantime, check out these hot mommas and pretty tea party spread.

There were so many more ladies that I would have loved to come but women this fabulous are very busy. All in all, it was a delightful afternoon full of good food, hot tea and lots of laughter. These entrepreneurial women are so amazing that when they all packed up and left, my little tray of business cards that I leave out for clients was overflowing.
So again I ask- Guys! Where are you?

This is cute! Thanks for sharing. Your house is gorgeous and very clolorful.
Do you work from home? You are so fast at whipping up new posts, I can’t imagine how you do it!!
Looking forward to those recipes…. mmm, scones and strawberry butter!!!!!!
What a fabulous group of amazing women–and I second the comment about your home! Gorgeous. Looks like an uplifting, fun, delectable time. Where ARE those guys??
thanks so much for visiting my blog and for posting the breakfast tip!!! i can’t seem to steer away from my beloved fruit/yogurt/kashi combo but i could definitely see how a different meal might help tide me over longer…it’s hard to come up with dishes that i can make at work though
love all the pictures you have in this post!! i say the same thing about my group of girlfriends…we ROCK and i am totally not biased!! where are all the good men??
I knew that we know people in common (I know your brother from high school and we see one another occasionally) but I see two women I know in those photos. It was momentarily jarring.
Joey must be getting big. I haven’t seen them in months.
Thanks for the comments ladies-
Coconutgal- Yes, I do work from home. Upside and downside- I work, sleep, eat, cook, teach, dance, sing, hang my clothes, get dressed, lay in my hammock, jump on my trampoline and occasionally spin around on my skateboard all in the same room.
Ricki and Katecooks- The men situation is a puzzling mystery. I want some demographics for male/female birthrates between the years 1973 and 1980. I am sure they are out of balance.
Canadianfoodiegirl- It’s a small world afterall!
Wow, what a gorgeous spread!!
