Happy New Year!

I wanted to take a quick moment to add a resolution to your life, as outlined in my video. Mostly, though, I wanted to wish you the happiest and healthiest year to come.

As we begin to contemplate what resolutions will make the cut for 2009, it would be difficult not to notice how many on our lists are related to self-improvement and personal health. This just exemplifies the simple fact that we, as a collective, are not giving enough to ourselves. We put the needs of so much else before what we personally need for our own health and happiness.

You know how on the airplane, they always say that you have to put your own mask on first, before assisting others? The same goes for our health. I had a little reminder towards the end of 2008 just how important that it. I became so focussed on taking care of everyone else’s health that my own was compromised.

What I realized, through my own little health challenge, is that we can only give to others as well as we give to ourselves. Our ability to to care for others, take care of our work and our responsibilities is in direct correlation to how well we take care of ourselves. The better we take care of our own needs, the better we are able to contribute to the needs of those around us. If we are all taking good care of ourselves, we may find our demands on others lightens, creating a positive cycle.

‘Taking care of’ and ‘caring for’ are two very different things. If we can better take care of ourselves, we will be better equipped to care for everyone and everything else that requires our energy. So in 2009, make your health come first. And the first step in doing so- give more time and attention to it.

And if you need some help, just ask. I am here for you. Here are some of the Healthy Living Bundles I am offering in 2009. And please go to www.meghantelpner.com or email me (meghan@meghantelpner.com) for more details.

Much love, health and happiness in the year to come.
